The seven acres of landfill at the US Army base at Fort Eustis, Virginia had developed voids and settlement, which facilitated a new cap for the landfill. Geotechnical engineers determined a new cap was needed that included a bi-directional geogrid with a high 2% tensile strain.
Synteen’s SF 11 was selected as the geogrid to span any future voids and add support for the new landfill cap. The manpower required to place the geogrid was reduced from nine men to two by using SF 11.
Utilizing an 8” anchor trench to secure the SF 11, the installer easily pulled the liner over the geogrid.
SF 11 was chosen because of its high strength, ease of installation, wide roll width and the service and support given by the Synteen sales staff.
